ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Arts Council is seeking student artists of all ages and disciplines for the second annual Charlie’s Center for the Arts – Student Artist Event in March.
The event, which will run from March 6 through March 8, will encompass multiple venues throughout St. Charles and feature the visual and performing art of student artists from kindergarten through college, according to a news release.
Students are invited to participate in the event audition or submit visual artwork for jurying.
Auditions for performing artists will be from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 7 at Baker Community Center, 101 S. Second St., St. Charles. The auditions are for a March 7 concert, a March 8 performing artist showcase and forthcoming master classes in association with the event, the release states.
Students interested in performing should call 630-443-3794 or email ArtistLiaison@StCharlesArtsCouncil.org to set up an audition time. Students can use the same email to submit visual art or film submissions. Students should include an image of each piece of work submitted and the title of each piece in their emails.
All submitted work must include the artist’s name, physical address, phone number and school attended, according to the release.
Submissions are due to the arts council by 5 p.m. Feb. 9.
Artwork also can be mailed to the St. Charles Arts Council, 2 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL, 60174 or hand delivered to the St. Charles Municipal Building main reception desk at the same address, the release states.
Visual and film artists will show their work in a student-only neXt gallery, which is the arts council’s pop-up art gallery program.
