In Focus: Just one of the girls

I had the chance to photograph Amy Roloff last week as she volunteered at the Northern Illinois Food Bank in Geneva. Roloff is a mom of four and helps her family run their farm, Roloff Farms, in Oregon. Of course, she and her family also star in the TLC reality show “Little People, Big World.”

The show is one of the only reality shows I still watch occasionally. I was so pleased to find that Amy is exactly the same in real life as she is on “reality” TV. She was funny and seemed to have a great time working alongside several other area volunteers as they batched bags of cranberries and potatoes to be distributed to needy families.

She was just another volunteer for the day and was not at all the “celebrity” in the group. As she hoisted a heavy bin of potatoes, some of the volunteers tried to help her and she just smiled – said she had it and said, “I’m a mom.”
