MAPLE PARK – Kane County Animal Control has cited the owner of a horse found dead on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 7, according to a statement.
Animal control wardens were alerted about the situation and went to the property, where a dead horse was found. There were 10 other horses on the property, but their care was otherwise considered to be in compliance with the law, according to the statement.
The owner was cited with failure to provide sufficient food, water, shelter and protection from the weather according to the statement.
Kane County Animal Control Administrator Brett Youngsteadt said the office would not release the name of the horse's owner, nor the address, but said it could be released through a Freedom of Information Act request.
