NIU student who was reported missing found at Elburn train station

DeKALB – A Northern Illinois University student who was reported missing on Tuesday was found Wednesday at the Elburn train station, DeKalb police said.

Police sent out a notice about 6 p.m. that Andrew “Andy” Minor, 26, from Galesburg, was located, that he was fine and was talking with detectives, according to a news release.

Minor was reported missing by his roommate and hadn’t been seen or heard from since 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

He didn’t have his cellphone and left his vehicle behind, DeKalb police Cmdr. Bob Redel said.

Family and friends were concerned about him and worried he might be depressed. They had looked for Minor before alerting police.

Wednesday morning police used trained search dogs as part of wider efforts to find the missing student.
