Fox Valley hospice to offer bereavement support for children

BATAVIA – Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice will offer the Herbie’s Friends program – which helps grieving families cope with loss, grief and death – beginning Thursday, Oct. 1, and meeting Thursdays through Nov. 12.

The group will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church, 222 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.

There is no cost to attend the program, and it is open to all families living in the Fox Valley area. Spanish interpretation is available, and registration is required.

Herbie’s Friends is for families with children ages 5 to 18 who have experienced a death – be it a spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent or other person. The program provides a safe environment where participants who have experienced a loss can share their thoughts, feelings and stories with others who have experienced a similar loss, according to a news release.

For more information or to register for Herbie’s Friends, call Jill Thorson at 630-232-2233 or email info@fvvh.org.
