West Chicago company recalls pie filling

The Jel Sert Company of West Chicago has issued a voluntary recall of a pie filling due to possible salmonella contamination, according to a Kane County Health Department news release.

The recall affects 52 cases of Margaritaville banana cream pie filling packaged in 4.16-ounce cartons that were used for sales samples and gift packages, the release states.

The cartons have a best by date of September 2017, a lot number of WC5257 and a UPC code of 7239202925, according to the release.

The release, which was issued Monday morning, stated that no illnesses had yet been reported.

According to the release, the recall was issued after Jel Sert’s banana chip supplier notified the company of possible contamination.
