Marklund to host REST (Respite Education and Support Tools) companion training courses

Marklund Day School – Ann Haskins Center, 164 S. Prairie Ave., Bloomingdale, will host REST (Respite Education and Support Tools) companion training courses for any individual – no medical background or prior experience needed.

The program seeks to give participants the skills needed to provide care to a person, so that person's primary caregiver can get short-term temporary relief.

The REST training program uses a standardized curriculum that is aligned with the National Respite Guidelines, developed by the ARCH (Access to Respite Care and Help) National Resource Center. Training topics include confidentiality, planning and adapting activities and establishing relationships with caregivers and care receivers.

The cost to attend the REST Companion training course is $50 per person and includes lunch, refreshments and course materials. Marklund will host the courses from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 30.

For information, contact Lisa Esposito at lesposito@restprogram.org or 630-397-5656.
