Prep roundup: Kielion and Golson combine for 5-hitter in Bulldogs win

CAROL STREAM – Alex Kielion and Luke Golson struck out seven and walked one in a combined five-hitter Monday, helping the Batavia baseball team defeat Benet, 4-1, at Wheaton College’s Lee Pfund Stadium.

Luke Beckmann drove in two runs for the 2-0 Bulldogs, while Jared Martin had two hits and an RBI.

Batavia is set to continue its spring break jaunt to Wheaton College against Willowbrook at 10 a.m. today. The Bulldogs will face Naperville North at Pfund Stadium on Thursday.

Conant 3, Geneva 2: At Geneva, Vince MacDonald tripled, while Jack Wassel and Josh Rose each drove in a run for Geneva (1-2) in the nonconference loss.

SOFTBALL

St. Charles East 1, Burlington Central 0: At St. Charles, Jordan Hall stymied BC in a two-hit shutout, helping East improve to 2-0. Kelly Rinker had three hits for the Saints.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Charles East 2, Benet 0: At Lisle, Megan O’Neal and Rose Stackhouse scored for East (5-0).

The Saints have outscored opponents, 21-0, this season.
