Sound Off: 'Watch what your kids watch' and other items

Watch what your kids watch

Instead of promoting girls, who are overall nonviolent, let us once again help boys to succeed in life. If you watch the Disney Junior station, you will see a female sheriff, a female captain of a spaceship and a female physician. Disney Junior wants girls to realize they can do it all, while ignoring boys as leaders. Watch what your kids watch. Since women have entered the work force, we have kids who stare at TVs and electronic devices, instead of being hugged and loved.

Favorite words

Two of Trump’s favorite words seem to be “incredible” and “unbelievable.” Those are appropriate words. Whenever I listen to Trump, I say to myself “incredible,” “unbelievable.”

Elect Donald Trump

Well, Melania Trump got up [July 18] and made her speech, it seemed to come from her heart. I’d like to know why the media constantly needs to bash anything about Trump. The media says, “Well, we need to unify this; we need to unify that.” What is wrong with the media saying, “Gee, Melania Trump played quite a compliment to Michelle Obama last night because she used some of the same words in her speech that Michelle Obama used in her 2008 speech.” That would have made a lot of news, and it would have made the public, we the voters, think more highly of the Trump-bashing media. I think that I am going to put a huge sign in my yard that says: Elect a real person for president, elect Donald Trump. I’ve never done that before, but I think I’ll do it this time because I am so sick and tired of people who [don’t follow the rules], like Hillary Clinton, and get away with it, holding the highest offices in the land. ... You know you just bash a person who wants to do good for the country and that’s not right.

Are we better off?

The president went down to Orlando a couple of weeks ago, supposedly to have a eulogy for the people that were killed down there. And, instead, the majority of it he turned into a political platform for the Obama agenda, and, now, unfortunately, we have Dallas, and again he turned it into a political platform after about 10 minutes of eulogy for his agenda and his vision. And, if I was a family member down there or even a Dallas policeman, I would consider it an insult and embarrassment to the families and even our city for him to come down there and preach whatever it is his philosophy is about the world, the new world order and every other thing. He was here as our state senator in Illinois. He was a U.S. senator in Illinois, and now he’s been the president for almost eight years, and still here in his hometown in Chicago we continue to set records for murders and nothing has changed. The president has done nothing but create more divide between the races. And it’s as great or even greater under what should have been a healing president who is black. He’s just an embarrassment, and he needs to go. We need somebody to really pull the country together and help black people. As far as I can tell, there [are] no black people any better off.
