Recycling bins placed in downtown St. Charles

ST. CHARLES – Downtown St. Charles is offering people a new way to dispose of their trash.

According to a city news release, the area has four new recycling receptacles, which have slots for plastic, glass and trash.

“We were happy to provide these recycling bins in downtown St. Charles,” Assistant Director of Public Works Chris Adesso stated in the release.

“These will help keep our city clean and keep unnecessary items out of landfills. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

One bin is at the Municipal Building plaza near the Main Street bridge; another is at Third and Main streets; and two are at the First Street parking deck by the Illinois Street entrance and the Walnut Street cut through, the release stated.

It indicated the America in Bloom Committee suggested the idea as a way the city can be more environmentally responsible.
