St. Charles police to serve burgers for Special Olympics Illinois

ST. CHARLES – St. Charles police officers will serve fast food customers on Aug. 9 to help raise money for Special Olympics Illinois, according to a St. Charles Police Department news release.

The “ButterBurgers and Badges” event is set for 4 to 8 p.m. at Culver’s, 4068 E. Main St., St. Charles, and will feature officers serving those dining inside, as well as the drive-thru users, the release stated.

“A main component of the city of St. Charles mission statement is service,” Police Chief James Keegan stated in the release. “We take pride in serving St. Charles, whether it’s through our daily police work or by volunteering in the community for a good cause.”

Officers will collect “tips” for their service, the release stated, indicating the money will be donated to Special Olympics Illinois along with $1 for every concrete mixer dessert purchased.

Local Special Olympics athletes also are expected to be in attendance to meet guests and sign autographs, the release stated.
