SUGAR GROVE – The village of Sugar Grove has had several advancements when it comes to the number of retail stores offered to its residents. Two new gas stations, including a Shell and a BP, will be up and running in early this year.
“Sugar Grove is starting to see the fruit of its labor in attracting commercial development,” Sugar Grove Village President Sean Michels said. “There are a number of commercial projects going on throughout the village. The old Citgo gas station will be opening before year’s end as a Shell station at the corner of Galena [Boulevard] and Sugar Grove Parkway. A new BP gas station is being constructed on the north end of the village at Waubonsee Drive and will be open by March of 2017.”
Dunkin’ Donuts will be open in April and will offer a deluxe experience compared with other Dunkin’ Donuts stores in the area. Construction on the new Dunkin’ Donuts has started directly south of Jimmy John’s. Behind the doughnut store will be the Prairie Point Assisted Living facility. This is a facility that will house individuals who need assistance in cooking, taking medications and other daily tasks.
Construction of single-family homes in Settlers Ridge will begin this spring. AutoZone will be building a 7,000-square-foot store and will start construction in the spring and open in the fall. Sugar Grove also will get a new coffee shop inside Jewel-Osco as Starbucks is expected to start construction this winter.
Sugar Grove will become the third city in Illinois to host the NCAA Division I women’s and men’s national golf championships. Hosted by Northern Illinois University, it will be at Rich Harvest Farms from May 19 through 31. The women’s championship will be held from May 19 through 24, and the men’s championship will be May 26 through 31.
