Warmer weather will bring more opportunities to get outside. Here are four places worth checking out in Northern Illinois.

PHILLIPS PARK ZOO, 1000 RAY MOSES DRIVE, AURORA

This free zoo is open year round from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This zoo features about 100 animals representing 41 different species, including bald eagles, great horned owls, gray wolves, elk, goats, reptiles, turkeys, peacocks, Greater Prairie Chickens, a red tailed hawk, barred owl, Cooper’s Hawk, Peregrine Falcon and cougar. Don’t miss the North American River Otter as they play in the water! A self-guided tour can help lead groups on a logical tour.
