Sugar Grove to repair streets, street lights

SUGAR GROVE – The Sugar Grove Village Board voted unanimously to authorize a street light repair contract with Utility Dynamics at its March 7 meeting. This contract will allow Utility Dynamics to make any underground repairs to streetlights within Sugar Grove.

In November, Sugar Grove’s public works department conducted a nighttime inspection of streetlights village-wide and found 33 were not working properly. Of those, eight had underground power problems.

The board also voted unanimously for a street-repair project. It will involve resurfacing and sealing cracks in the Carriage Hill subdivision, Merrill Road and Esker Drive, among other areas. A village estimate puts the cost at $231,500, above the board’s construction bid of $214,739.

Trustee David Paluch was absent.

Additionally, the Sugar Grove Village Board received the Government Finance Officers Association award for its comprehensive annual finance report.

“This is the 17th year we have received this award,” Village Clerk Cynthia Galbreath said.
