Chamber Exchanger: Cruise Nites to return to St. Charles

Spring is in the air! There are a few events in St. Charles that will help you achieve the spring mentality of “out with the old and in with the new.”

First, the St. Charles Park District will host its community garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21 and 22; learn more at www.stcunderground.com.

This is a fundraiser for the STC Underground, which serves as a unique place for teens to hang out, socialize, play games, surf the internet, watch TV, do homework and much more. Garage sales are a great way to get rid of some old stuff you have had lying around or if you are in the market to get a deal on some items.

This happens to be my favorite time of year – spring feels fresh, the air, plants growing and after a long winter this is a great time to start a new project, hobby, job or career.

Another way you can get a fresh start this spring if you are looking for a job is to attend the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce Job Fair. Dust off your resume and start updating it now in preparation for the Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 17.

This event will be held in the gym at the Pottawatomi Community Center in St. Charles. There are currently opportunities for sponsorship and/or to have a booth, so if your business is looking to hire staff, this is a great opportunity to meet local candidates.

There will be workshops, including “Is Your Resume Up to the Challenge: Does it Tell & Sell Your Story?” presented by FlexiCorps; “Tips for Working with Recruiters: If the Recruiter Does Not Work for Me, Why Use One?” presented by FlexiCorps; “Interviewing Tips & Skills: Do You Have What it Takes to Ace the Interview?” resented by Craig Frank of Frank’s Employment Agency; and “Tips For Navigating Online Search Sites: How to Standout in a Cyber World,” presented by Tracy Minnec of Light Bulb Effects Coaching.

All workshops are geared to assist the job seeker. Also, Alex Claney Photography will be at the Job Fair providing headshots for anyone interested for a nominal fee. If you have any questions regarding how to get involved in this event, please reach out to the chamber.

Get your engines running! We are kicking off Cruise Nites early this year and trying a new format of a monthly block party on the fourth Tuesday of the month from April to September, presented by the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and Fox River Tire & Auto.

Mark your calendars for April 25, from 5 to 8 p.m., on Riverside Avenue, as we will have classic cars, entertaining DJs, a 50/50 raffle, sponsors and vendors providing giveaways, and other fun activities. All types of vehicles are welcome every month, and admission is free.

To learn more about who we are, what we do, and how to get involved, visit our website at www.stcharleschamber.com, call 630-584-8384 or email info@stcharleschamber.com. Stop by and visit the chamber office at 216 S. Riverside Ave. in downtown St. Charles to pick up member literature, coupons and business cards.
