GENEVA – “Rapunzel – The Musical” will be presented at Playhouse 38, 321 Stevens St., Geneva, featuring a hilarious adaptation of the long-haired princess and her suitor, the Geneva Park District announced in a news release.
“Rapunzel – The Musical” was written by the creators of the popular television series “Friends,” which aired from 1994 to 2004, the release stated.
Forced to live alone in a tower with nothing but her hair and her mother – a witch – Rapunzel’s 16th birthday has come and she gets to see the outside world for the first time, the release stated.
The mother reneges on a promise. Then a young prince named Brian happens across the tower and calls Rapunzel out as he has heard her mother do: “Rapunzel! Let down your hair!” the release stated.
The young couple have to face the witch’s wrath and other hilarious obstacles before they live happily ever after, the release stated.
Performances are at 7 p.m. April 28 and at 3 p.m. April 29. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. Tickets can be ordered online by visiting genevaparks.org or at the Sunset Community Center, 710 Western Ave., Geneva, or the Persinger Recreation Center, 3507 Kaneville Road, Geneva.
