The Class 3A girls soccer regional championship games May 19 and 20 will have a Tri-Cities flair. Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles East and St. Charles North, the top four seeds in the Hoffman Estates sectional, will all battle for postseason hardware.

Batavia

A tough stretch to end the regular season didn't effect the Bulldogs in their postseason opener. No. 3 seed Batavia took care of No. 14 Hoffman Estates 7-1 May 17 in a regional semifinal at West Chicago.

The Bulldogs face No. 6 Bartlett, a regional final winner against Batavia last season, in the regional championship game at 5 p.m. May 19.

A win in the regional final would send the Bulldogs (13-3-2) in a sectional semifinal at Hoffman Estates High School at 6 p.m. May 24, where they would face either St. Charles North or DeKalb.

Geneva

The No. 1 seed Vikings had little trouble with Lake Park in Geneva's regional semifinal May 16, netting five goals 25 minutes apart in the first half of a 6-0 win.

Geneva plays No. 9 Glenbard West in the regional final at 6 p.m. May 19.

Alicia White opened the scoring, converting Sydney Gratz's feed for a goal 11:05 into the game. Leah Groven (19:19), Caitlin Farrell (23:37) and Molly McGavin (36:18) scored off White feeds in the first half, and Farrell also scored from Gratz's feed at the 23:37 mark of the first half.

Anna Spindle scored 57:37 in from a Farrell pass to cap the scoring.

Emma Harkleroad played the first half in net and did not face a shot. Katie Montgomery made two second-half saves to share the shutout.

St. Charles East

In a game that wasn't decided until the late stages, No. 4 seed East hung on for a 2-1 win against No. 3 Rolling Meadows May 17 in a regional semifinal at Conant.

Rose Stackhouse scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute on a Hannah Kolb feed.

Kolb broke in alone for the Saints' (9-4-6) first goal in the first half before the Mustangs equalized in the 34th minute.

East faces No. 5 Conant in the regional final at 3 p.m. May 20 with the winner moving on to face the winner of the Geneva regional at 6 p.m. May 23 at the Hoffman Estates High School sectional.

St. Charles North

Seven first-half goals powered the No. 2 seed North Stars past No. 15 Glenbard North 8-0 May 16 and into the DeKalb regional final against the No. 10 Barbs at 5 p.m. May 19.

Claudia Najera scored in the fourth minute on an Amanda Czerniak feed to start the onslaught. Najera finished with a first-half hat trick, also scoring in Gia Wahlberg's feed in the 13th minute and then netting Sarah Andrey's pass in the 37th minute.

Najera's second goal was the capper on three that came in quick succession, preceded by Hailey Rydberg's score in the 10th minute and Gia Wahlberg's score from a Rydberg pass in the 12th minute. Najera's third goal came moments before Wahlberg's tally in the 38th minute to cap the first-half scoring for the North Stars (16-0-3).

Rydberg scored a second goal in the 29th minute, and Andrey scored from Katy Fredericksen in the 56th minute to make it 8-0.

Sami Sample was untested in net in the first half while Leanne Stahulak made two saves in the second half to share the clean sheet.
