ABOUT: The Fox River Trolley Museum recreates the trolley era in the Chicago area, one of the major centers for electric rail transport in the early 20th century. On Father’s Day, dads ride free when accompanied by a paid-fare child. Picnics are welcome. Tickets for "The Polar Express" in November and December will go on sale June 1, and last year sold out in days. Families board at the Blackhawk platform in the Jon Duerr Forest Preserve for the ride to the North Pole; tickets cost $33.
