Sugar Grove resident Steve Ekker, 50, was at a Sugar Grove Corn Boil Committee meeting when he answered questions for the Kane County Chronicle's Brenda Schory.

Schory: Where did you grow up?
Ekker:
Sharon, Pa.

Schory: Do you have any pets?
Ekker:
A cat named LeMieux – named after Mario Lemieux the hockey player

Schory: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Ekker:
Robert De Niro

Schory: First job?
Ekker:
Newspaper delivery

Schory: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Ekker:
I think I wanted to be a movie star, but I became an attorney.

Schory: What do you do for the Corn Boil Committee?
Ekker
: I do the legal work. My law firm, White & Ekker in Sugar Grove, is a big sponsor.

Schory: How did you get involved?
Ekker:
I moved to Sugar Grove in 2007, and I wanted to get involved in the community and meet people. Someone suggested I show up at a meeting, and the next thing I know is I’m in charge of the information tent, and then I was talked into being president. I was president for a couple of years. Now I do the legal work.

Schory: Book or movie you would recommend?
Ekker:

Ekker:
The Sugar Grove Corn Boil

Ekker:
New York Super Fudge Chunk from Ben and Jerry’s

Schory: What is an interesting factoid about yourself?
Ekker:
I clerked for then-Congressman Tom Ridge, who then became the first director of Homeland Security.
