Ekker: A cat named LeMieux – named after Mario Lemieux the hockey player

Schory: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Ekker: I think I wanted to be a movie star, but I became an attorney.
Schory: What do you do for the Corn Boil Committee?
Ekker: I do the legal work. My law firm, White & Ekker in Sugar Grove, is a big sponsor.
Schory: How did you get involved?
Ekker: I moved to Sugar Grove in 2007, and I wanted to get involved in the community and meet people. Someone suggested I show up at a meeting, and the next thing I know is I’m in charge of the information tent, and then I was talked into being president. I was president for a couple of years. Now I do the legal work.

Ekker: I clerked for then-Congressman Tom Ridge, who then became the first director of Homeland Security.
