South Elgin police seek public's help in finding sex offender

SOUTH ELGIN – The South Elgin Police Department requests the public’s assistance to find a missing sex offender. Jose Barboza-Lopez, 26, failed to inform the police of a change of address, according to a news release.

Barboza-Lopez, a 5-foot-7-inch Hispanic male who is approximately 130 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes, was last known to reside in the 800 block of Division Street in South Elgin, according to the news release.

During the course of sex offender registration checks, the police learned Barboza-Lopez failed to notify the police he had moved, according to the news release.

Anyone with information on the location of Barboza-Lopez is asked to contact a local police department or the South Elgin Police Department at 847-741-2151.
