Batavia police reports

• Joseph W. Farquhar, 19, of the 800 block of West Highland Drive, Elgin, was charged July 26 with retail theft less than $300 and obstructing identification at Menards, 300 N. Randall Road, Batavia.

• Graffiti on a road sign was reported July 26 as criminal damage to property on Water Street, Batavia.

• A theft valued at more than $500 was reported July 27 in the 600 block of Sylvan Place, Batavia.

• A person was pushed to the ground in a business parking lot in the 800 block of North Randall Road, Batavia, according to a July 27 report of battery, which noted the victim will pursue charges if the subject can be found.

• A theft valued at $500 or less was reported July 27 in the 200 block of Franklin Street, Batavia.

• Harassment by telephone was reported July 27 in the 0-99 block of Feece Drive, Batavia.

• Fraud was reported July 28 in the 2400 block of Big Woods Drive, Batavia.

• Marissa M. Pimentel, 19, of the 400 block of Oak Street, Aurora, was charged July 29 with possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass to a building and retail theft less than $300 at Kohl's, 251 N. Randall Road, Batavia.

• Street racing on South Kirk Road was reported July 30.

• A theft valued at more than $500 was reported July 31 in the 300 block of Douglas Road, Batavia.

• Fraud was reported July 31 in the 900 block of Shabbona Trail, Batavia.

• Juan J. Parras Jr., 47, of the 1100 block of Superior Street, Aurora, was charged Aug. 1 with retail theft less than $300 at Walmart, 801 N. Randall Road, Batavia.

• A motor vehicle theft was reported Aug. 2 in the 600 block of Papermill Hill Drive, Batavia.

• A burglary to a motor vehicle was reported Aug. 2 in the 2200 block of Kane Lane, Batavia.

• Mary M. Mathias, 63, of the 600 block of Sylvan Court, Batavia, was charged Aug. 2 with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, improper lane usage, use of unsafe tire and expired registration, according to a police report.

• Austin E. Bellm, 28, of the 700 block of Thorsen Lane, Batavia, was charged Aug. 2 with a first offense of possession of more than 10 grams but not exceeding 30 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding 26 or more miles an hour over the limit and illegal transportation of alcohol on Fabyan Parkway, Batavia, according to a police report.

• The Batavia Police Department recently issued a warning to be aware of a current telephone scam in which the caller claims to be employed as an agent with the Internal Revenue Service and aggressively demands money for owed taxes. The caller asks for personal identifying information, as well as personal banking information, and threatens victims that if they fail to cooperate they will be arrested. The department news release suggested that people looking for information on such scams and how to report them should go to irs.gov and type “scam” in the search box.
