ST. CHARLES – Two events at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles will benefit foster children through the Lutheran Social Services of Illinois foster care program.
Church members recently loaded a truck with 205 new backpacks filled with school supplies, so Illinois students in foster care can start off their new school year with a smile, stated a news release.
In addition, Bethlehem Lutheran will host a rummage sale Aug. 17 to 19, with proceeds from the sale benefiting the Lutheran Social Services of Illinois summer camp program "Steps to Life." The program looks to prepare young adults to successfully transition out of the foster care system into adult life.
Sale hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 18 and from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 19. The public is invited.
Bethlehem Lutheran is located at 1145 N. Fifth Ave. (Route 25) in St. Charles. For more information, visit www.bethlehemluth.org.
