Ground broken for assisted living facility in Yorkville

Cedarhurst Assisted Living and Memory Care broke ground on its newest senior living community Aug. 1 at Route 34 and Cannonball Trail in Yorkville.

Cedarhurst of Yorkville is anticipated to open in fall 2018 and will feature 53 assisted living apartments and a secure memory care wing that will accommodate up to 20 residents. The community will feature restaurant-style dining, a movie theatre, activity room, library, game room and access to a salon, as well as a facility for on-site therapy.

“The Cedarhurst communities in Yorkville and Naperville will serve over 200 seniors within a thirty-minute drive. Our strategy is to provide high quality housing and care to seniors in the western and southern suburbs of Chicago,” said Josh Stevens, President of Cedarhurst Living.

The Yorkville region currently has very few options for senior living, and has no options for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or some form of dementia. Cedarhurst of Yorkville will be the only memory care community in the Yorkville area, and will provide care and safety for seniors in their assisted living or memory care apartments. Also, Cedarhurst of Yorkville will offer new employment opportunities.

“Yorkville has an obvious need for more senior living options, and as developers we are happy to fill that need. We’re especially excited to create the only memory care community in Yorkville so people don’t have to leave the area, and what’s familiar to them, just to get the care they need. Yorkville officials have been excellent partners on the project so far, and we look forward to a grand opening in fall 2018,” said Joshua Jennings, CEO of Dover Development.

Cedarhurst of Yorkville is being developed by Dover Development, a company based in Clayton, Missouri, that focuses on senior housing and health care developments. St. Louis Design Alliance is the architect on the project. Brahms Construction, a full-service construction management firm, also based in Clayton, Missouri, is the construction manager.
