GENEVA – Geneva Christian School announced in a news release that Mary Sotiroff will serve as its new interim director for the 2017-18 school year.

Sotiroff has worked in education for more than 20 years, most recently as a math and science teacher in the Elgin U-46 School District, the release stated.

Sotiroff is an active member of her church, where she serves as a large group teacher and communicator for the first-through-fifth-grade children’s ministry, the release stated.

“What a blessing it is to welcome Mary to our school. We are confident that she will make an incredible impact to inspire, nurture and grow [Geneva Christian School],” Tonya Hubbartt, Geneva Christian School board director, stated in the release.

“Mary’s varied experiences in education, strong faith and conviction in our Lord and savior make her a wonderful fit as interim director.”

Sotiroff received her master’s degree in secondary education and teaching from National Louis University, as well as English language learners and gifted education endorsements from Northern Illinois University and Aurora University, respectively, the release stated.

In addition to her teaching experience, Sotiroff has held leadership roles in the school system as a math team coordinator and curriculum writer, the release stated.

She also serves as an advisory board member for the College Readiness Summit at Elgin Community College, and she has sat on the Grading Policy Committee for Elgin’s U-46 School District.
