Letter: Fantasy sports and the skill involved

To the editor:

Daily fantasy sports is not gambling; it is my passion and a hobby.

I find myself entering a few contests a week. I honestly do not do it for the money. Instead, I enjoy the competition and challenge. I enjoy the camaraderie of playing against friends. The contests are fun and exciting!

Furthermore, I enjoy daily fantasy sports because I love the skill involved. I love it so much I now write articles helping others who do not have time to do the research. I know Attorney General Lisa Madigan has stated that, in Illinois, the question about daily fantasy sports being a game of luck or skill is not an issue because both are considered illegal.

However, I ask her and other lawmakers to think about their constituents. Please, pass a bill to legalize and regulate the contests, but do not take away our right to continue to play.
