Editor's Notebook: Women’s Conference to take place Oct. 5 at ECC

State Sen. Karen McConnaughay’s third annual Women’s Conference will be presented Oct. 5 at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

I will help moderate the event, which will include keynote speaker Christine Dudley, director of the Illinois Film Office, and panelists Ami Christianson, owner of One Salon & Bridal Co.; Janice Christiansen, president of FlagSource; Linda Deering, president of Advocate Sherman Hospital; and Loretta Rosenmayer, founder and chairwoman of the board at INTREN.

“The mission of my Women’s Conference is to bring together women from all walks of life who desire to grow professionally and personally, and to promote leadership among women of all ages,” McConnaughay said in a news release. “With the help of dynamic speakers and active corporate sponsors, attendees will engage in thoughtful discussion on how to achieve success in the workplace.”

The event is free and will be in the E Building dining room at ECC. Registration will begin at 4 p.m., and the conference will start at 4:30 p.m.

I participated at a previous Women’s Conference and found the event to be exceptionally uplifting. It was great to hear such positive stories from incredible ladies.

A networking reception will follow the panel discussion in the atrium at ECC. Cocktails and appetizers will be provided.

Those who would like to attend must RSVP by Oct. 2 at aromanelli@sgop.iga.gov or 217-782-1650. Space is limited.
