Stein hoister contest in Batavia to lead up to Oktoberfest

BATAVIA – A stein hoisting competition will test biceps at four venues Sept. 29 and 30 before the next stage of the contest takes place during Oktoberfest on Oct. 6 and 7 in downtown Batavia.

People can qualify for the local Samuel Adams events by testing their prowess from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 29 at River’s Edge, from 8 to 10 p.m. Sept. 29 at Bulldog’s Cellar and Gammon Coach House, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 30 at Pal Joey’s, and from 8 to 10 p.m. Sept. 30 at Wilson Street Tavern. The national finals will be Oct. 27 in Boston, picking a female and a male winner. The grand prize is a trip for two to Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year Gala.
