Girls Golf: Megan Furtney wins playoff, paces St. Charles North to regional crown

Megan Furtney shot a 3-over par 73 to earn medalist honors, beating Burlington Central's Sydney Killeen in a 1-hole playoff, leading St. Charles North to the team title at the Class 2A Burlington Central Regional on Wednesday at Sycamore Golf Club.

Katelyn David carded a 76 for fourth place for the North Stars, who shot a 303 to easily eclipse runner-up St. Charles East (331). Sarah Arnold and Emma Hayes both shot 77s to tie for sixth.

St. Charles East also advanced to next Monday's sectional meet in Barrington.

Riley Sullivan shot a 76 to pace the Saints, Nicole Jordan carded a 77, Grace Westerhoff an 83 and Haley York a 95.

Burlington Central advanced Killeen, who also shot a 73, and Carli Niesel, who shot a 92. Geneva advanced Darby Lillibridge and Avery Frick, who both shot 84.

At the West Aurora Regional, Batavia advanced Madison McCoy, who shot a 76, and Kaitlyn Stangi, who shot a 91.
