St. Charles Kiwanis Club in a league of its own with award-winners

The St. Charles Kiwanis Club "is proud" to have six members who have been honored with awards at an annual St. Charles Chamber of Commerce event, according to a news release. Charlemagne and Leap Award winners from the club are (from left) Terry Andrew (Charlemagne Award), Laurie Milbourn (LEAP Award), Betsy Penny (both LEAP and Charlemagne Award), Dr. Vernon Guynn (Charlemagne Award), Darlene Riebe (Charlemagne Award) and Tom Anderson (Charlemagne Award). The Charlemagne Award, the highest honor given in St. Charles, is a lifetime achievement award that recognizes a local resident for his or her service to the community. The LEAP Award goes to a woman in recognition of her continuing efforts on behalf of women and the community through leadership, excellence, achievement and professionalism. "In addition to all of their work at Kiwanis, these members have demonstrated what community and giving through service to others [are] all about," stated the release.
