Batavia police to give away gun locks

BATAVIA – Firearm owners in Batavia are invited to stop by the Batavia Police Department to receive a free gun lock while supplies last.

The police encourage residents to safely store firearms at all times in order to prevent injuries or death because of accidental discharge, according to a news release.

Police neither will request nor record personal information from those interested in obtaining a gun lock, the release stated. The goal of the program is to promote gun safety.

For information, contact Deputy Chief Shawn Mazza at 630-454-2500. The police department is at 100 N. Island Ave. at the Batavia Government Center.
