VIP Day was free to the invited guests and served as a last practice day for Culver's employees; donations were accepted for the Between Friends Food Pantry in Sugar Grove.
Sugar Grove's Culver's is a family business as Tim Newkirk owns the establishment alongside his father, Jeff Newkirk, who owns the Culver's restaurant on Lincoln Highway in DeKalb near Northern Illinois University.
"VIP Day is our last practice day for employees," Jeff Newkirk said. "We will start with 63 employees. VIP Day allows us to meet with local dignitaries and meet employees' families. Most of our employees are in high school or college, and we don't usually get to meet their families."
