The early birds get the candy, right? That’s what I was hoping as I headed out on a blustery Halloween afternoon to find costumed ghouls and goblins hitting up their neighbors for some sweet treats just as the city’s recommended trick-or-treating hours began.

I quickly found the Powers family, dressed as “Super Powers,” going door-to-door in their St. Charles neighborhood.

Nick and Sharon and their Spider–Man son, Jack, 2, were on the hunt for some candy, as Mae, 6 months, was cozy in her stroller dressed as Wonder Woman.
