Abby Graham finished with seven kills, six assists and 12 digs for the North Stars (37-5) against the Tigers. Katie Lanz added eight kills, six assists and nine digs and C.J. Johnson had nine assists and nine digs. Parker collected a team-best nine kills to go with six assists and seven digs.
During the postgame press conference Saturday, Parker, a senior outside hitter, recalled a preseason talk with St. Charles North coach Lindsey Hawkins, known affectionately as “Hawk” by her players.
“I remember at the beginning of the season we talked about setting team goals,” Parker said.
“Last year we lost our very first game in regional, so (Coach) asked us, ‘What do you guys want out of this?’ I said, ‘I want to win regional.’ She said, ‘Why don’t we just go to state?’ At the time, I was like, ‘Yeah, Hawk, we’re going to state.’ The fact that we were actually made that happen is just such an experience, only a small amount of people get to experience [this].”
