Strong lineup of local and collegiate performers rounds out event series
ST. CHARLES – The Norris Cultural Arts Center recently announced plans for its 40th anniversary season of concerts and events, including a program featuring nationally syndicated classical music radio host Bill McGlaughlin, whose nightly “Exploring Music” program airs locally on WFMT-FM in Chicago and WNIU-FM in DeKalb, according to a news release.
McGlaughlin’s program on March 3 will focus exclusively on the music of Leonard Bernstein, the famed American composer, conductor and educator whose centennial birth year will be celebrated throughout 2018, according to the release.
The Norris in September kicked off the season with a 40th anniversary celebration dinner-theater event at the Baker Community Center in downtown St. Charles. Attended by more than 100 supporters, the event commemorated the center’s opening in early 1978 and celebrated its plans for the future, according to the release. Located on the Norris Campus on the east side of St. Charles, the cultural arts center was a gift to the community by the late philanthropists Dellora A. Norris and her husband, Lester Norris.
For the fourth consecutive season, the Norris acknowledges local law firm Meyers & Flowers for its support as the season’s principal financial sponsor.
