To the editor:
Oftentimes, the work of community members and service organizations is overlooked. Most are not looking for recognition or praise for their efforts, but I would like to commend members of the St. Charles Moose Lodge for spending the week prior to Thanksgiving dedicating their time to cooking 105 donated turkeys for The Salvation Army, so that those in need would have a hearty meal on Thanksgiving day.
Not only did they cook and carve these turkeys, but they also dedicated part of their Thanksgiving morning to preparing all of the sides and delivering the meal to The Salvation Army. This is only one example of the many acts of kindness provided by members of the St. Charles Moose Lodge.
There are also many other organizations that spend time throughout the year dedicating time and resources to those in need. Instead of flooding our news feeds with all the negativity that’s going around, let’s flood our news feeds with all of the acts of kindness done by the service organizations throughout our community. I am honored to be a member of this service organization and of this community, and I look forward to hearing about the many other acts of kindness that others provide.
“A burden heavy to one is borne lightly by many.”
