"We encourage anybody to come out and read," she said. "You never know what could happen."
Hilgart, a Romeoville resident who works in Batavia, was introduced to The Albright Theatre Company when she appeared in "A Christmas Carol" last season. She had been involved in acting and directing since college. This show marks her first directorial turn at Albright.
"Once you're bit by the bug, you're always bit by the bug," she said. "We're all volunteers. We do it because we love the theater. We want to bring our talents to the community."
She said she has been blessed by her production team and the help of parents with the current play.
"I haven't seen community involvement as strong as we have for this show – it's wonderful."
The cast also features Autumn Burns (as Mom), Charlie Egan (the Old Man) and Griffin Egan, all of Geneva; Taylor Beling of North Aurora; Erin Cauley of South Elgin; Ethan Tarver, Naomi Gustin, Ron Gustin, Caiden Duchek, Kayla Giesen, Ronni Gustin, Makenna Donohue, Kelly Hunecke and Emma Kilburg, all of Batavia; Sherry Poulos and Vivian Webb, both of Aurora; and Elijah Harder of Montgomery. Stage manager is Annie Hanlin of Batavia.
