St. Charles School District 303 got a new leader this year.
Jason Pearson – who had been an administrator with District 303 since 2010 – became superintendent this summer.
Pearson succeeded Don Schlomann, who retired June 30 after working with the district for 10 years.
When Pearson was named superintendent, Steve Spurling – president of the District 303 Board at the time – said the board didn't conduct a national search because members wanted someone from Illinois who understood the state's financing and politics. It became "very obvious very early on" that Pearson was a great candidate, he had said, and the district risked losing him.
Pearson was happy to be selected for the role.
"I'm honored and excited at the same time," he had said.
