A winner has been announced in a song contest hosted by #TheJankGuitarStore.

"The Road" song challenge was open to those age 10 through 19 in the Tri-Cities. The winner is John Engstrom, who attended St. Charles North High School.

For the challenge, participants were asked to do their own interpretation of the song "The Road" by Casely and the Jank in the form of a musical cover, musical remix or dance performance.

"John's submission stood out immediately," stated a news release from #TheJankGuitarStore. "He really went all out and took it as a real professional. He shot footage in St. Charles, Chicago and Lake Geneva for the video, and he created a full production for the song, including an amazing instrument arrangement."

The grand prize is a $10,000 scholarship, and a check will be presented to Engstrom at a ceremony June 12 at Lincoln Park in downtown St. Charles, according to the release. In addition, a $2,000 donation will be made to both the music program at North and Engstrom's city of residence, St. Charles.

"What was so impressive was that John was able to be powerfully creative while highlighting his individual personality, yet still working with retaining the form of the original song," stated the release. "And that is the mark of a true young professional."
