Kane County Sheriff's Office reports

• Victor Manuel Jaramillo, 48, of the 38W400 block of Route 64 near St. Charles was charged Dec. 4 with a violation of an order of protection.

• Identity theft was reported Dec. 7 in the 05S600 block of Bliss Road near Sugar grove. The victim allegedly received a collection notice of $2,969.51 for Sprint.

• Theft under $500 was reported Dec. 8 in the 35W000 block of Chillem Drive near Batavia. A 32-inch TV valued at $160 was reported stolen.

• Burglary from a motor vehicle was reported Dec. 8 in the 0S600 block of Preston Circle near Geneva. A metal sleeve wallet with an Illinois driver’s license, a Bank of America MasterCard and a $10 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card were reported stolen.  

• Burglary from a motor vehicle was reported Dec. 8 in the 39W300 block of Preston Circle near Geneva. A cloth bag valued at $10 was reported stolen in addition to a sleeve of Cubs plastic cups valued at $4.

• Domestic battery of an insulting or provoking nature was reported Dec. 8 in the 6N100 block of Route 25 near St. Charles.

•  Fraud was reported Dec. 11 in the 700 block of Pine Street near Batavia. A subject lost $6,500 after being allegedly told to purchase gift cards and send the numbers off the back of the cards to someone over the phone. The victim also reported being called at least 40 times.

• Burglary from a motor vehicle was reported Dec. 8 in the 39W600 block of North Hathaway Lane near Geneva.

• Criminal damage to property under $300 was reported Dec. 12 in the 01S700 block of Route 47 near Elburn. Business cards and pushpins with a value of $10 were reported to have been thrown into a toilet.

• Deceptive practices were reported Dec. 5 in the 6N300 block of St. Charles. A victim was reported to have been scammed out of $2,650 by having someone they met off the dating website Plenty of Fish send them a check for $2,650 and ask for the money to be sent to another location from the victim’s account.

• Deceptive practices were reported Dec. 5 in the 37W400 block of Fabyan Parkway near Geneva. A large tent valued at $1,419.95 was ordered over the internet and was never delivered.

• Credit card or debit card fraud was reported Dec. 6 in the 43W600 block of Route 64 near St. Charles. An unauthorized transaction from a checking account to a PayPal account for $3,579 was reported. Another transfer of $1,879 from the victim’s PayPal account to another PayPal account was also reported. The victim also reportedly received a phone call later, where someone claiming to be from the government offered a $14,000 grant if the victim provided his or her bank account number.
