In Focus: The giving trees

I was surprised and delighted to visit Abbey Farms in Aurora for the first time in a long time as staff members readied Christmas trees and all the necessary decor to be donated to families in need.

CHIP IN Batavia and Batavia School District 101 representatives were also on hand as the group planned a route to deliver the holiday cheer to the families’ homes. Jackie Rakers, educational programs and volunteer coordinator at Abbey Farms, was raised in Batavia and said in an email later that day the whole experience turned into so much more than she could have dreamed.

“It makes my heart so happy to see the community come together to make sure every family has an amazing Christmas, regardless of their situation,” she said.
