Richard L. Herra, 49, of Elburn, was charged with indecent solicitation of a child through the internet, a Class 4 felony; indecent solicitation of a child, a Class 3 felony; and attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 3 felony.

After Herra was charged in late September, a Kane County judge gave Herra a signature bond, allowing him to be released from the Kane County jail on his promise to appear in court, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Two days later, after a second investigation by the Kane County Sheriff's Office, Herra was charged by prosecutors with six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Those charges reflected a second victim.

Bail was set at $250,000, but Kane County Associate Judge Linda Abrahamson reduced the bail to $100,000.

Herra's 2007 white Ford F-350 pickup truck was seized Sept. 25, according to court documents. The truck was allegedly used in one of the incidents.

Herra was still in the Kane County jail as of Dec. 20. Herra's next court date is Jan. 12.
