Boys basketball: Feiza with big first half, but Rock Falls clamps down to beat Kaneland
By CODY CUTTERfirstname.lastname@example.org
ROCK FALLS — Cade Nailor remembered Blake Feiza all too well from a year ago.
“He scored 24 points on us last year,” said the Rock Falls junior forward, referring to last year’s nonconference win by his Rockets against Feiza’s Kaneland Knights.
On Friday at Tabor Gym, Feiza picked up where he left off with the Rockets with a monster of an opening quarter, but Nailor and company clamped down on defense to limit Feiza’s touches and burst ahead to a 59-52 win over the Knights.
Feiza had his way in the paint early, scoring 14 points and pulling down six rebounds – which included three putbacks – all in the first 8 minutes for a 21-12 Knights lead.
“We knew we had our hands full with him down low,” Nailor said. “We had to be tough with him and try not let him catch the ball, and have trust in our teammates to have help side.”
