New year brings new website for Chamber

ELBURN – The Elburn Chamber of Commerce will be launching its new website at the beginning of the new year, chamber administrator Tracy Leach said.

“The website needed to be updated,” Leach said. “The existing site was not functioning the way we need it to. In today’s age of technology, it was time to get a site that was more user friendly and accommodates all the needs of our business community.”

The Chamber asked website designer and developer Nicole Fleshman to create the site. Fleshman is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer operations management. She spent many years working for a major retailer where she designed, developed and implemented store systems. She and her husband moved to Elburn in 2004, and in 2013 she pursued her dream and launched her business, Nicole Fleshman Web Designs.

Fleshman has created websites for the Elburn and Countryside Fire Protection District, Kaneville Volunteer Fire Department, Best Vac of St. Charles and Project Seth – a nonprofit organization created to help reduce and ultimately eliminate suicide in young adults.

Fleshman has been working on the site since just after Thanksgiving and expects it to go live in January. She said the new website will boast a modern design that is responsive, so it will be easier to view on smartphones, tablets and desktops.

“A key feature will be the ability to find local businesses by category within the online chamber directory,” Fleshman said. “In addition, business listings will include additional details, such as links to social media and websites.”

Leach added that there will be more opportunities for Chamber members to promote themselves and their businesses on the new site, including the ability to post information about vacant building space, help wanted ads and rental spaces.

“This new, fresh, user-friendly website will appeal to everyone who is seeking out Chamber businesses and events,” Leach said. “We are looking forward to offering a website where the community and surrounding communities will be excited to click on our website to see all that’s available.”
