As we begin a new year, we are happy to roll out new services for our patrons.
We are always looking for ways to make our patron experience more enjoyable and more convenient.
It is because of this dedication (and other technical factors) that the St. Charles Public Library was recently recognized as one of America’s Star Libraries in 2017 as ranked by Library Journal! This three-star ranking makes us part of an elite group of libraries across the nation to be recognized. We are one of 22 libraries in Illinois to be ranked as a Star Library. We were in the top nationwide and first in the state for three-star libraries in the $5 million to $9.9 million category, according to the data. It is an extreme honor to have received this distinction.
As we strive for new heights in this new year, the library introduced our new “Hot Picks” section, where patrons can come in and browse the newest and most popular materials for checkout. These designated items are checked out for three days for a quick turnaround so that more patrons can enjoy these “hot” items. This was a highly requested service and we are happy to be able to unveil it for our patrons.
Do you remember making cassette tapes of your favorite songs? Then you made the switch to CDs, right? If you have any of those relics, you can now convert the old technology into MP3 files using the AudioStar from HamiltonBuhl.
The library’s adult services has an AudioStar, similar to a boombox, which allows you to convert music into MP3 files. It is easy to use and helps you preserve your music from all eras. You can check out this item right now.
While not considered a service, the new Teen Advisory Group is a new program at the library. This program is designed for high school-age teens who want to get involved to make the library a special place for them. They are encouraged to bring suggestions, ideas or any other way to make the library an inviting and welcoming place. We provide pizza, snacks and refreshments each time.
For information about these new services and programs, visit our website www.scpld.org or call the library at 630-584-0076, ext. 1.
