GENEVA – The city of Geneva received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the eighth consecutive year from the Government Finance Officers Association, officials announced in a news release.
The honor reflects the city’s commitment “to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting,” according to the association, the release stated.
Geneva’s 2017-18 budget runs from May 1, 2017, to April 30, 2018, the release stated.

These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device, the release stated.
Budget documents must be rated proficient in all four categories, the release stated.
Award recipients are recognized to have “pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America,” according to the association, the release stated.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit organization serving nearly 19,000 government finance professionals, the release stated.
