[Batavia High School senior Erin Gray designed this winter banner based on lettering from the pedestrian Peace Bridge embellished with ornaments.]
Banners measuring 27-by-72 inches will hang from light poles along downtown Batavia Avenue (Route 31) and on West Wilson Street between Route 31 and Lincoln Street. Saam said those will number about 26.
A few smaller banners will be installed along the first block of North River Street and on Houston Street between Island Avenue and Route 31, Saam said. Those banners will measure 19-by-45 inches, she said.
This is the fourth time around for the street banner program.
“Every year I’m so impressed with what these high school students do and how well they know their community,” Saam said. “They are very professional.”
Tieri Ton and her students appeared before the Batavia City Council on Jan. 16 to display the designs for aldermen.
