Batavia police reports

• Sabino Sotelo, 28, of the 31W100 block of Lee Road, West Chicago, was charged Jan. 24 with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed, driving on a revoked driver’s license, and operating a vehicle without insurance in the 1800 block of East Fabyan Parkway, Batavia.

• Three incidents of spray-painted graffiti under the west side of the Wilson Street Bridge in the zero to 99 block of West Wilson Street, Batavia, were reported as criminal damage to state property Jan. 25.

• Lawrence R. Lorenz, 62, of the 400 block of Maple Lane, Batavia, was charged Jan. 25 with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08 percent, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to provide information at an accident and illegal transportation of alcohol in the 500 block of Maple Lane, Batavia.

• Unwanted text messages were reported Jan. 26 as harassment by electronic communication in the 100 block of Franklin Street, Batavia.

• Damage to the back of a vehicle was reported Jan. 26 as criminal damage to property in the 700 block of North Washington Avenue, Batavia.

• Burglary to a motor vehicle in the 300 block of Union Avenue, Batavia, resulted in the theft of $60 and a plastic insert for the middle console, according to a Jan. 27 report.

• Three separate incidents of slashed tires that occurred overnight were reported Jan. 27 in the 300 and 400 blocks of Elm Street, Batavia.

• Quincy J. Chambers, 28, of the 600 block of Madison Street, Batavia, was charged Jan. 28 with obstructing and resisting a police officer after being asked not to re-enter a home where a battery investigation involving others was taking place, police reports stated.

• A minivan’s front and rear tires on the driver’s side were slashed, according to a Jan. 28 report of criminal damage to a vehicle in the 200 block of Batavia Avenue, Batavia. The cost of the damage was reported as an estimated $500.

• Kasey Lynn Hoag, 39, of the 39W000 block of Revere House Lane, Geneva, was charged Jan. 29 with retail theft in the 100 block of North Randall Road, Batavia. The report stated that five items of clothing valued at about $111 and a $7 bathroom accessory were recovered.

• Someone fled with a smartphone taken from a display shelf at a business in the 200 block of North Randall Road, Batavia, according to a Jan. 29 report of retail theft.

• A voicemail IRS scam attempt was reported Jan. 29 as fraud in the 1400 block of Surrey Road, Batavia.

• A purse was reported stolen Jan. 29 in the 500 block of North Randall Road, Batavia. Items taken, according to the report, included $65, credit cards, a medical card, a driver’s license and an Art Institute card.

• An unauthorized bank account transaction was reported as fraud Jan. 30 in the 400 block of Kickapoo Avenue, Batavia.
