"I was too heavy on my feet. I didn't show up that match," Benjamin said. "I'll see him at sectional finals...I need to wrestle my style [next time]. I didn't do anything that match. I deserved to lose."
Tommy Schroeder took third in the 152-pound weight class to round out East's sectional roster at Larkin next week.
Hull was more than familiar with his opponent, Glenbard East's James McNicholas. The two have wrestled twice before this season, but Hull has pinned him three times, including Saturday.
"This would have to be, in 3A at least, the most competitive regional," East coach Jason Potter said. "Very rarely do you see four top-20 teams in the same regional. To me, I thought that made it exciting. We were looking forward to the opportunity."
