GENEVA – The next production for Geneva Park District’s Playhouse 38 Theater is Neil Simon’s classic 1963 romantic comedy “Barefoot in the Park,” according to a news release.
Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer, and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick.
Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job.
After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother, and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their upstairs neighbor.
Of course, everything that can go wrong does go wrong.
“Barefoot in the Park” stars Brooke McGehee as Corie, Tyler Kinser as Paul, Jami Johnson as Corie’s mother Ethel, John Frankenthal as the upstairs neighbor Victor Velasco, Steve Lord as the telephone repairman Harry Pepper, and Jim Knapp as the Lord and Taylor delivery man.
Lisa Pivaronas directs the show.
Performances are at 7 p.m. March 1, 2 and 3 and 5 p.m. March 4 at the theater, 321 Stevens St., Suite P, Geneva.
