Boys basketball: Slow start doesn't cost Kaneland in win at Sycamore
By JOHN GALLIONEfirstname.lastname@example.org
SYCAMORE - Despite a slow start, the Kaneland boys basketball team was able to beat Sycamore, 48-43.
Spartans guard Ethan Heinrich led all scorers with 12 points on the evening. Rhett Epse led the Knights with 11.
Even with 10 players showing up in the box score, the Knights (10-15, 4-6 Northern Illinois Big 12) struggled on offense, only scoring 19 points in the first half.
"I think that we were able to stop them from doing some things in the second half," Kaneland coach Joe Conroy said. "In the second half, I believe we held them to 19 points. Really, it was our defense that did it. We really struggled with what coach [Ryan] Picolotti had prepared for us."
